momo’s hero costume has always bothered me so i thought id offer my take on a re-design.

  • the book is cute, but not practical. if she needs to figure out how to make something it would be easier to have a hands free option, like the visor.
  • mesh sections of the costume allow momo to have full range of her quirk without a tiddy window. i’m taking some liberties with canon here, but if hori can bullshit mirio’s costume like that, it should apply to yaomomo too.
  • armor, because she’s a hero? probably doing sick somersaults and shit, can’t risk scraping her knees. flexible, won’t inhibit movement and won’t obstruct quirk.
  • pants. for a lot of reasons, including she’s 15 and a hero.
  • pockets for snacks to fuel her quirk

“if hori can bullshit mirio’s costume like that, it should apply to yaomomo too“

honestly, this pretty much sums up 98% of my salt towards Horikoshi’s stupid sexist character designs (same goes for Hagakure who is still naked in the middle of winter. “coincidentally” the ones whose designs don’t include a bullshit way to work around – even partial – nudity are almost exclusively the girls. I wonder why)

OP you’re doing god’s work. Bless.

I wonder when exactly it was that Star Trek stopped being perceived as light, fluffy, not-really-legitimate sci fi that ~housewives~ liked and started being seen as serious nerd business that girls had to keep their gross cooties off.

Also when did the Beatles start to be remembered as rock legends rather than a silly boy band teenaged girls liked?

When men decided they liked them.

this is seriously exactly how it happened. Women were actually the first rock and roll ‘critics’ because they would write in to women’s papers and magazines to share and discuss what their kids were listening to when men still thought it was trashy teeny bopper music. once it became a lucrative, mainstream genre men shoved women out of the space. Men also tend to be gatekeepers once they move into formerly female spaces – early trek fandom was incredibly open and inclusive; women would set up fan get togethers in their own houses to discuss the show or invite the actors to visit before conventions became a thing, and then were huge in organizing the first conventions – but now the stereotype of a trekkie is a nerdy white dude who scoffs derisively at casual fans and newbies with his encyclopedic and pedantic knowledge of trek

I propose we call this “mentrification”

An anti-immigration rally held in Markham this weekend turned violent, with “at least a dozen police vehicles and two dozen officers” showing up to break up fights between rally attendees and counter-protestors.

It seems the protest was organized as a response to Mayor Frank Scarpitti’s support for providing housing for asylum seekers in unused buildings in Markham.

Here’s a transcript of a first-person account (1, 2) of Saturday’s protest (I made some minor edits for clarity, and I put the second half behind a cut as it’s a long post). According to this account, the rally was organized by and mostly attended by Chinese conservatives.

I am feeling pretty distraught at [the] moment, not so much from the cut I received as my megaphone was torn from my hand and thrown into a fountain, not so much from the punches and shoves, but mostly from this feeling that as the Chinese left, we’ve been asleep to to the political dynamics in the Chinese ‘community’ for the past decade or so. Today, about 15 of us gathered at Markham Civic Centre to counter protest an event organized by Conservative Party and fascist elements opposed to the housing of refugees at a York Region School Board facility.

We chanted and marched to the site, expecting to confront a couple dozen protesters but instead came across over a hundred people. We were met right away by these racists head on. Person 1 in the red shirt came screaming in our faces with a megaphone (he had previously seen us in the parking lot and phoned ahead to some buddies) – apparently he’s a PC operative. Person 2 in the black shirt and sun glasses was especially combative, shoving into us and grabbing on to my megaphone and throwing it into the fountain. He also pulled another member’s hair and kicked. Interestingly enough, after the initial confrontation, a separate shoving match happened between perhaps a more ‘moderate’ racist group and this group. Person 3 (white guy in La Meute shirt) also came by to intimidate us, saying to me “you guys better fuck off, I can’t protect you when these guys beat the shit out of you”.

After 10 minutes of shoving, more York Region Police finally showed up to separate the groups. We decided then to move towards Highway 7 to cover up their banners with our own.

While we were happy to have served as some disruption and to challenge claims of Chinese uniformity made by these groups, it was shocking to see this level of aggression right at the start, without any escalation. It was even more shocking to see such a high number of racists – it seriously seemed more organized than some of the white supremacist actions.

The Great Bot Purge 2018

purgethebots:

Tumblr is in an epidemic. The porn bot apocalypse is here. And it’s really, really, really, really, really annoying. Even more annoying than me saying really five times in a row because let’s face it:

  • To check more video, clcik here.
  • Click here to find onenight stands
  • For more more private stuff, come here.
  • Looking for fun? Join me here.
  • Howdy guy, more private stuff here.
  • Howdy bro, my profile here.

Lately the probability of finding a comment like this in the notes has gone up from 100% to a 10000% and it’s seriously impacting our user experience.

I have been here since 2010, @staff. Started out as wolf blog and in 2012 I used to share my poetry and made eight super good friends to which I am still talking today! But now what?

It’s pretty safe to say that there are a number of bot networks active on this website. The one asking for bitcoin and the aforementioned ‘looking for fun’ one for example. The bots follow a pattern and because it’s a network it should be easy to roll up.

I know we always point at @staff to fix this, but honestly, it’s not an easy fix. I know many people block bots, but do we also report and flag them? How does staff respond to flags?

Anyway, here is what I and 10,000 other people who started following this blog over the last 24 hours propose:

We purge the bots. The porn bots. All of them. This is going to be one big COORDINATED effort to destroy the bots!

For one month we are going to report and flag those blogs, and make sure we cut their profits so they don’t make enough money to support their bot network.

It’s very important that we do this as a community. This is a movement. Everyone has to join so we can limit the outcome of this battle to only two possibilities:

  1. We win this battle
  2. @staff really doesn’t give a shit

Let’s go get them! Join the army @purgethebots

Men: Your Consent Matters Too

Fellas, listen.

You don’t have to do anything sexual that you’re not interested in. Moreover, you don’t have to explain why. “No” is a complete sentence.

Not interested in getting pegged? You don’t have to.
Monogamous and not into the idea of another partner? Okay.
Not sure about period sex? Cool.

And if your partner decides to question or mock your maturity or your masculinity or your sexuality because you say no? It’s time to re-evaluate the relationship. See if you don’t deserve better than that.

This.

Right here.

This is the entire point of the series. ATLA is full of powerful and important ideas, but this is the single overarching theme that dominates the story and is its most important reason for being.

And that, guys… that is why the Lion Turtle works.

Because Aang was shaping his own destiny. The world, his friends, his own past lives were telling him one thing. They were telling him that it was his destiny to kill the Fire Lord. But Aang said no. It wasn’t his destiny to become a murderer and an assassin, to end a long and bloody war with more bloodshed, and he knew it. So he refused. He forged his own path. He searched for an answer. He went looking for another way. He asked everyone he could think to ask, and was given nothing.

And then, in the final hour… he asked the Lion Turtle.

He didn’t have to. He had already accepted that this time, he wasn’t going to be able to shape his own destiny, and he was just going to have to take what the world had handed him. But he wasn’t going to leave any single option unexplored, and so he asked the Lion Turtle, too.

He asked for an answer.

And his persistence was rewarded. He was given an answer. Because he searched for it and struggled for it, he was given the power to reshape his destiny.

That is the entire fucking point of the story.

ACTUAL NATIVE ACTORS PLAYING ACTUAL NATIVE CHARACTERS?

WHO KNEW YOU COULD DO THAT

It’s on Hulu now. As time goes on, there’s more and more characters of color, more and more queer characters, and more and more of a good time had by all. Especially notable are the native characters, because I don’t think native & indigenous Canadians get much rep.

Would recommend.
