Healthy male friendships are almost as rare in mainstream fiction as gay male relationships, and maybe more rare in fanfiction. Let men be wonderful friends without pushing a romantic relationship, just like men and women should be able to be wonderful friends without the pressure of a romantic relationship.
*AGGRESSIVELY SLAMS REBLOG UNTIL I DIE*
This is literally the reason men are so terrified of being open about loving each other platonically, because they don’t want people to assume they’re gay just because they can be supportive of their fucking friends
“If you’re writing about a gay boy or a black girl, you need to talk to a gay boy or black girl. You have to go above and beyond to get it right. The internet is a beautiful thing for a writer, but we have to put in the work. I think that’s key: Put in the work. Whether you’re writing about diversity or a legal thriller, you have to put in the work. Find the resources. Find the people. And when you find the people, please pay them. No one owes you anything — you owe them for their help!”
it’s real concerning that you got sheltered kids on here calling each other abusers and isolating each other for having normal arguments/miscommunications in relationships though
Or calling their parents abusers for grounding them/taking away their phone/not letting them go to a party with people they don’t know. I see so many teenagers complaining that their parents took their phone away and that is abuse because they should have a right to their phone (which technically isn’t theirs because their parents paid for it and are paying the monthly bill)
The harm this does is teach kids who are ACTUALLY ABUSED that they shouldn’t complain because their lives are normal and everyone is subjected to abusive parents.
“I have the right to think of you as less than human, but I wish you’d stop being mad at me about it and just accept it. That’s all I want for this country.”
Republican’s idea of “tolerance”
“We get to spread hatred and violence against anyone who isn’t a straight cis white christian male
And no one gets to say Mean Things About Us for doing this because it really hurts our feelings!”
so sad that some people are literally blind to Lance’s character development and accuse his creators of hating him when they’ve actually given us a male character who unlearns how society tells men to treat women, handles sadness maturely, cries frequently, and learns to swallow his ego and support his friends
