Well… thats about it! Of course there’s a whole bunch of useful resources which I just couldn’t include in this post because it was getting too long.
Even if you yourself aren’t trans and wouldn’t find this content useful, please reblog because it may be of great help to some of your followers.
And if you ever have any trans-related questions or need some advice or support, feel free to message me at my main blog here or at my personal/transition blog here.
Just because it’s worth reposting again.
Hey, times are bad.
Here’s a list of resources for trans, nonbinary, and intersex persons.
There’s a lot of talk about physical violence and employment discrimination against trans people, but there’s one aspect you don’t hear much about: health care.
According to 2011′s National Transgender Discrimination Survey, nearly 20% of survey respondents reported having been refused care because they’re transgender.More than 25% reported being harassed in a doctor’s office, and 50% had to actually educate their doctors on aspects of trans health care.
“I have been refused emergency room treatment even when delivered to the hospital by ambulance with numerous broken bones and wounds,” says one survey respondent.
One thing that a lot of transmasc people struggle with before they fully realize they’re trans is the question of “do I hate being treated like a woman because women are treated like shit, or do I hate being treated like a woman because I’m not a woman?”
and one method (though not entirely foolproof) to figuring that out is asking “would I be upset if another girl was treated like this?”
like, I’d be just as mad if some dude said “you can’t do math because you’re a girl” to a female classmate as I would if he said it to me
however, I never got uncomfortable at waiters calling my female friends “m’am”, I was only uncomfortable when they called *me* that
and obviously everyone’s feelings are different and there’s tons of variables at play, but if you find that there’s a lot of the second scenario going on with you, there’s a good chance you’re not entirely cis
‘Pose’ stars MJ Rodriguez (‘Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista’) and Indya Moore (‘Angel Evangelista’) get real about cisgender actors playing transgender characters in the wake of recent casting controversies.
Okay so, I have this possibly helpful tip/product for trans guys. I know it might seem like a small thing but often with trans dudes the smallest things can make a huge difference.
So, basically I found these underwear (made by Hanes) that are technically women’s underwear but they just look like boxers. (heres a picture)
Now, the reason I’m highly recommending these is because they’re made to fit a female body. The inside even has a place you can put a pad so you don’t have to wear those girly panties for a week each month (if that applies to you, it’s a definite plus). Not to mention they’re affordable (i found a two-pack on sale for 5$) and, since they’re technically women’s underwear, it might be easier to slide by the lesser-supportive parents and the like.
Again, this seems like a really small and dumb thing, but dysphoria’s a bitch and I know y’all just want somethin’ comfy between you and those jeans.
