So I hear a lot of people talking about how Rebecca saying Pink Diamond did what she did partly because of White and everyone sort of jumped to the conclusion that White must’ve been really mean and or abusive to Pink because she was the same way to White Pearl and possibly Homeworld
But what if it was like
WD almost spoiled Pink?? As a “young” gem. Like not in a caring, over affectionate way but in a “go ahead and get it/do it because I couldn’t give two shits”
Like PD would come up to her wanting something and it was just easier to say yes
Not like pushover yes but like I said “yeah sure whatever”
And so when Pink is finally “old enough” or when she’s with the other Diamonds (maybe passed around to be baby sitted or some shit)
Or maybe something happens with White and her whole thing about being left alone so Pink just gets lumped with Yellow and Blue as a result?
Anywayyy Pink starts begging for her own colony and for like the first time in her life she’s told “no” by someone who isn’t White
And that’s that whole thing with the temper tantrum Stevonnie dreams about
Because let me tell you no one throws tantrums like that unless they’ve been spoiled before
And from then on, Pink gets told “No” a whole lot until she gets her own colony finally, which is when she lets up a little bit, just barely mature enough to run it until she sees Earth n all that Rose stuff
Because they mention that before Garnet, Rose was just “fighting for earth” which- and I’m going out on a limb- is kinda bullshit because yeah Earth is beautiful but I’m pretty sure there are other beautiful planets? I had another reason but like
Essentially before Garnet, PD protecting Earth like that might have been just “YOU TOLD ME NO SO IM GOING TO FIGHT YOU OVER IT EVEN THOUGH I DONT REALLY CARE!!!!!!” I don’t know how to explain it but I get into fights like that with my sibs all the time like we’ll be fighting over like a pencil and it doesn’t matter the value the fact is one of us wants it and the other isn’t willing to give it up just because fuck you
I think after Garnet, PD cooled off and her long running tantrum actually turned into a need to protect but idk
