Historia and Levi: Sins of Our Fathers

aspoonofsugar:

In the Uprising arc Historia and Levi are paralleled. Their parallel is used to discuss the parent-child dynamic (which is very important for both that arc and the series as a whole) in two different ways.

a) Levi and Historia are both children having to overcome unhealthy coping mechanisms they learnt from their parents.

b) Levi and Historia’s relationship reproduces to an extent a parent-child dynamic (at least narratively).

This meta will try to explore this.

Okay, SO

sometimes I’m watching SNK and I’m like so absorbed into Levi’s husky monologue and then Yato will randomly (intrusively) pop into my head and I’m like… how do these two even have the same voice? It baffles and entertains me.

In light of this, and Kamiya Hiroshi’s immense talent as a voice actor,

Please join me in imagining Levi doing dumb shit like my precious idiot son, Yato. Here are some gifs for inspiration.

In conclusion, this is my brain in random serious moments of Levi’s dialogue 🙃:

SNK Readthrough: Volume 15 Part 4

When this panel came out, there was quite an uproar over a certain topless survey corps officer and his unique physique. I remember reading comments about how lucky Sasha was.

The reality is that just hours before, Sasha was ready to abandon Levi and the Survey Corp. She was furious over his treatment Historia. She accused Levi of trying to put Historia on the throne so he could control her.

She then saw him in a violent battle with the MPs. She watched as he sliced a soldier in half.

It’s a pretty safe bet that Sasha does not consider herself lucky at all.

Regardless of Sasha’s feelings towards him, Levi selected her for the task. And no wonder! Sasha grew up in a remote village hunting for food. As a child she would’ve learned to field dress her kills, skinning them and removing the organs before transporting them home.

From a practical sense, I suppose putting skin back together isn’t so different from taking it apart. With her background, she certainly wouldn’t be squeamish about it. And her skill with a bow shows her steady and precise hand.

My thought above are heavily influenced by an incredible fanfiction I read by islandofreil  surrounding this single panel. The link is here.
