i stan two fun boys
I can’t believe the AFO is Izuku’s Dad theory still persists bc it literally does nothing for the story but give a neat thing of ‘Oh look Izuku became the top hero even though he was born from darkness’.
Looking at how Horikoshi brings very real issues to the series and constantly shows how Izuku is different from all the other families in a way most people in society would look down on him pulling such a card is just weird.
It doesn’t work with the themes of choosing who you want to be. Izuku being a random kid working hard to become number 1 is much more interesting than the overused ‘Main Characters is Villains kid proving himself to not be his father.“
Even more so bc we have that trope being used with Shouto and Shigaraki (both the trope and it’s subversion is used here as Nana is a hero and AFO is clearly a dad figure) and even Eri (Her family are Yakuza and Overhaul is both a brother and father figure) and theyre all being written in a way thats wayy different then the cliche the fandom keeps up with.
During Shouto’s realization Rei tells him not be a slave to his blood and his arc is literally about him choosing to be his own person despite all that Endeavor did to him and his family. Anyone wanting Izuku to be ‘darker’ bc of his connection are pretty much shown just what Horikoshi thinks of that,
And anyone saying how Izuku and Shouto can parallel each other with their dad’s, they already do with All Might and Izuku and Endeavor and Shouto. Hell one can say Izuku and his biological dad already do as both him and Endeavor were shit to their family and the sons are working hard to not be defined by thst,
Plus it makes no sense for AFO to have a kid with Inko and just…. leave them alone? Why would he let such a loose end live in the first place if he even leaves them alone? Am I the only one who sees that as downright stupid coming from a very intelligent guy?
