Help us please!

I’d never thought that I’d have to do this, but I really need some help right now. My family went through some intense property destruction this weekend and it’s going to take a huge amount of money that we just don’t have in order to rebuild. Please don’t scroll past this – there’s a tl:dr at the bottom if you need it, but I really need to explain just how big this is for my family.

If you haven’t heard, on Friday September 21 at around 5:00pm, a really big tornado came though a small rural community called Dunrobin, Ottawa. There’s so much destruction right now and thousands and thousands of people in the city are without power.

The tornado went right over my house. The house isn’t irreparably damaged, and we can fix it. The farm is another story.

This picture was taken while there were still power lines across my driveway and we were afraid to step off the porch, but you can still see how only the stone bottom of the biggest barn remains while the other barn and the silo are just completely gone. There’s another barn destroyed that you can’t see from this angle.

You know what’s the real kicker? Only our smallest, most insignificant barn was insured against wind damage. That big barn and that silo? They’ll cost thousands upon thousands of dollars to rebuild and we won’t have any help from insurance. We don’t have that sort of money.

A significant portion of our income comes from the farm, and those barns gave shelter to the animals that we raise, and gave protection from the elements to the farm’s equipment. We can’t even use the money from our crops to help rebuild because many of our fields were also hit by the tornado.

TL;DR: A tornado hit my propriety and the farm buildings that we need to run our farm were completely destroyed – only one was insured against wind damage and we can’t afford to fix the rest.
